Closure of Manama restaurants after midnight.
April 12th, 2007
Hi,
This piece of news have been on the front page of every local newpaper on the island and really caught my attention because there is something funny about it. First about this new law is that restaurant owners in the capital Manama were asked, two weeks ago to sign some sort of a formal contract agreeing the closure of their local food restaurants after midnight. This sort of contract was signed in Al-Hora police station and some owners claim that the police forced them to sign without explaining them the reasons.
Now about the funny part, coz nobody knows exactly who enforced this law as each official such as Manama Governer, PR director in the ministry of interior are denying enforcing such law and till this moment nobody knows who exactly ordered that!!
Police now are wandering around the streets of Manama ordering every restaurant to close if it is seen open after midnight. Oh, wait it is not only restaurants but also local coffee shops (Qahawee).
The funny thing is that the police force are following orders that are till this moment not sure who issued it. We'll certainly miss (Tikat abol) and the rest! Damn. Wallah mas5arah and 6ar6arah!

I like the way this is being tackled, I wonder if anyone remembers the issue of the “great wall of malkiya”. The press coverage was exactly the same way, it wasn’t too long before it was brought down.
From the way things are going, I can see light at the end of the tunnel.. Sad it took place, but then again.. Only a reminder to the way things REALLY function around this part of the world..
Thanks for bringing the issue up, well said!
